How Long Should You Expect Whitening from Us to Last?
Posted on 8/9/2021 by Kevin Nail, DDS
Many people have some form of tooth discoloration. Perhaps your favorite morning beverage stains your teeth, or maybe it is that cup of warm goodness in the evening hours. Regardless of the reason, your teeth may be stained; most people wish they had whiter teeth. In fact, whitening teeth is quite popular these days. Many options are available, from a do-it-yourself home kit to a whitening treatment in our dental chair. With all the whitening options currently available, it is a good idea to understand how long a whitening option may last on your teeth.
Whitening Option Choices
We have had good success in whitening the teeth of many patients. The advantage we have over the do-it-yourself home kit is the ability to match the natural tooth color of the patient's teeth. This creates a more natural-looking smile as opposed to a bleached-out white color from over-the-counter options. We like this natural look to last as long as possible. We find our treatments last between two and three years, depending on how well you care for your teeth and avoid food and beverages which stain your teeth. Compare this with toothpastes, strips, and trays, which may last only a couple of months.
Schedule Your Routine Cleaning
As always, you can help your teeth stay white by brushing twice a day and flossing as well. Take care of your teeth by removing plaque from your enamel. It is important to prioritize your routine cleaning and exams. We would like to see you in our office every six months. We would be happy to discuss your options for whitening your teeth. In addition, we can suggest alternatives to foods and beverages that stain your teeth. Give our office a call toady to schedule your next appointment.
